Join Colleen in her home-based earth brick studio, where you will hand-form your own striking artwork from natural materials using the wet felt making technique.

This 2 day Contemporary Felt Making workshop is an opportunity to extend your individual creativity by learning how to apply design principles to felt work, making your designs cohesive and interesting.

Colleen will guide you on how to enhance your ideas by choosing colours that will work well together, incorporating the techniques of resists, inlays or embellishments to create surface textures into the structure of the felt.

The focus will be to create a wall piece of your own composition that is meaningful to you. There may also be an opportunity to try other ideas and techniques, including three-dimensional felt-making. By the end of this small group workshop, you will have a finished piece for your interior, along with many ideas for future projects.

Whether you are a beginner or bring experience with you there will be opportunities to be challenged and inspired, by gaining an insight into what makes your work unique.

Your supplied kit will compose of a generous selection of hand-dyed NZ merino wool, luxury silk fabrics and a myriad of other fibres.

Colleen holds an adult tutoring qualification and has exhibited her felt work nationally and internationally, with her work purchased by private collectors worldwide.
